Automatic Bike Storage System

F- Oplsag is an automated bike storage system that was designed by me and a group of thirteen other industrial design students. This project needed a systems engineering approach in which members were assigned different parts of the system, my subsystem was the drop-off station where people leave their bike.
CONCEPT
With a total of 7 subsystems, a complete bike storage system could be created. The most challenging part was to identify all the interfaces between subsystems as designs have to match for the system to function. The project allowed me to develop this mindset of systems engineering and apply it, which now helps me to tackle larger scaled projects into reachable goals.
The storage system had to be placed in a specific location and was designed in a human- centered way. For newcomers, instructions are provided on the interfaces of the system, but it also allows for regular visitors to quickly drop their bike without having second thoughts. People can drop off their bike in seconds and later find it back with guidance in an underground storage.
